As you continue your ascent to Gillman's point (5681m), the rocky terrain gives way to a vast expanse of barren moorland. The winds howl and the air is colder, but you are well-prepared and determined to reach the summit. Finally, you reach the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro, Uhuru Peak (5895m). The view is breath-taking, with the vast expanse of the African plains stretching out before you, and the peaks of other mountains visible in the distance. You take your time to savour the moment, taking photographs and soaking in the sense of accomplishment that comes with standing on the roof of Africa then, it's time to begin the descent back to Horombo hut with a well-earned meal and a good night's sleep.

You pass through Mandara hut (8,858 ft./2,680m) on your way to the final destination of Marangu Gate (1980m). The air is cooler and more humid as you descend, and you can feel your body beginning to recover from the exertions of the previous days. You have trekked one of the world's highest mountains, pushed yourself to your limits, and seen some of the most breath-taking landscapes on earth.
